Happy New Year from the entire editorial team of The Quiver

Thank God for his mercies. As you begin to journey through this year, we have selected for you seven by the help of the Holy Spirit important keys you should not ignore. They are embedded in seven verses of the Bible.

Let's take a look.
1   [NLT] 1 Thessalonians 5:18: Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
I really don't know how your 2016 went nor your expectations for 2017 but you really should thank God for everything; for what he has done, he is doing, he will do and he will not do. Yes! Thank him for what he will not do because we pray all manners of prayers and request all sort of things but know not that which will harm us. In all, thank God a lot, no matter how bad it could be, it could have been worse. Let giving thanks to God in all things be part of you this year and see what the Lord will do.
2   [NLT] Proverbs 22:4 True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life.
This is two-in-one. Practice absolute humility this year combine with fear of God and see if you will not experience the three-fold blessing. Humility will lift you up and make you stand out. If you mix that with ability to fear God, to know and do what pleases God, plus your ability to be diligent then you are on your way to prosperity.
3   [NLT] John 3:27 John replied, “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven.
Yes! If this can be woven into your sub consciousness this year, you will suffer less pain and disappointments. As you strive and pray to achieve many things, know that you get what you get because heaven permits and if you are not permitted now does not mean you will not be permitted later. This is to teach contentment. Trying to get what heaven will not permit can only lead to sorrow.
4   [NLT] Proverbs 30:8 First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.
OK! I know many will frown at this. We all want to get rich, don't we? But I would rather prefer to be prosperous than get rich. Prosperity is all round blessing while riches are accumulation of material wealth. A billionaire battling with cancer is rich but not prosperous. This year, let God bless you with your needs and not what will corrupt you. Just as David said in the next verse:
[NLT] Proverbs 30:9 For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.
5   [NLT] Luke 6:38 Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”
Do you want to be prosperous this year? Become a chronic giver. It is a natural law that works for all, if you give you shall receive. Simple and plain. More importantly, take note of the law of direct proportion at the latter part of the verse, your giving determines what you receive with God being the proportionality constant. However, watch where you sow, seek out the fertile grounds.
6   [NLT] John 15:5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
Very controversial. You ask why? How will Jesus say without him anyone cannot do anything? Are unbelievers not doing something? It took time for me to understand that he meant everything you are doing outside me (Jesus) is nothing, effort in futility. How can this be? Jesus is our insurance policy both here on earth and in heaven. Here on earth he promise to be with us and also promise us eternal life later on. If you want to know how something can become nothing outside God, ask Job as he lost everything within days when God stepped aside. So do you want your work to count this year? Abide in Christ and if you are yet to know him, surrender your life to him today.
7   [NLT] Acts 1:11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”
Finally, 2017 should be lived with eternity in view. Heaven is still real likewise heal and Jesus is coming sooner than expected. Will you be ready?

Please make this an icing on the cake:
(NLT) Philippians 4:6-7 don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Wishing you a prosperous year 2017
Shalom
