2019:PRESSING TOWARDS THE HIGHER MARK

Vol. 19.01.41
Bible reading: Phil 3: 1-16
Joshua 13:1 ‘Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the Lord said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.’.
At the end of a year, there are often two categories of people;
1.         Those who feel underachieved
2.         Those who feel fulfilled
For the first category, it is time to review the cause of underachievement (sin, laziness, carelessness e.t.c.) but remember there are more lands to possess. In fact, we have a God of restoration and recovery.
Joel 2:25 says; And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the Palmer worm, my great army which I sent among you.
vs. 28; And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

The Word assures us that God is able to restore lost time, and He is God in charge of times and seasons. For this reason, as many that fall into the category of those who feel underachieved, there is hope, trust God to help you maximize every moment as we journey in this new year.
To the second category, there tends to be merriment, because we can count our achievements, we set goals and we achieved them; but just yet we should;
1.         Be thankful
2.         Forget the former things
3.         Look ahead
Philippians 3:13-14;
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Joshua 13:1
Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the Lord said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
This was after about 31 kings have been defeated. This shows us that after every achievement, there are still greater feats that can be done and we must not rest on our oars.
More land to possess could mean;
1.         More souls to be won
2.         More lives to be impacted
3.         More heights to attain
4.         More laurels to be won
5.         More people to disciple
As much as we celebrate when we achieve our goals, we must, like the Apostle Paul, ensure we do not remain at that level.
Philippians. 3:12; ‘Not that I have already attained, or I am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me’..
We must learn to look forward while forgetting the past, because indeed, as God told Joshua, there are yet very much land to be possessed.
2019 is another year God has given us; we must set out to conquer the lands that remain.
God is limitless, and there is always more with Him. Keep pressing!
Trust God to direct you on the purpose He will have you achieve for Him, be deliberate about it and press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

May you have a rewarding Year 2019 in Jesus Name
Amen
